Important information

• Serious or life threatening drug interactions involving CYP 3A4 possible - see BNF
• Incompatible with solutions containing divalent cations eg calcium or magnesium containing fluids such as Hartmans and lactated ringers solutions

Ivemend 150mg vial powder for solution for infusion

Reconstitution

Sodium chloride 0.9%

• 5ml per 150mg vial
• Add slowly along the vial wall to prevent foaming
• Swirl vial gently, avoid shaking
• Must be diluted further prior to administration

Methods of intravenous administration

Intermittent intravenous infusion

• Remove 105ml Sodium chloride 0.9% from a 250ml infusion bag- leaving 145ml
• Add the reconstituted solution to the 145ml to give 150mg in 150ml
• Gently invert the bag two or three times
• Administer over 20 to 30 minutes
• Mild injection site thrombosis has been observed at higher doses. If signs or symptoms of local irritation occur, the infusion can be stopped and restarted in another vein

Dose in adults

Usual dose

• Give 150mg on day one of chemotherapy
• Initiate infusion approximately 30 minutes prior to chemotherapy
• Should be administered in conjunction with a corticosteroid and a 5-HT3 antagonist

Hepatic impairment

• Limited data in patients with moderate hepatic impairment, and no data for those with severe hepatic impairment- use with caution

Store between 2 and 8⁰C
